The 3rd World Conference on Farm Animal Welfare

The green and sustainable development of agriculture and food safety has become key topics globally. In NPC&CPPCC Annual Sessions 2019, it’s made clear that in protecting agricultural ecological environment, we should comprehensively improve the quality of livestock products and other agricultural products. As an important approach for the green and sustainable development of agriculture, animal welfare has been more and more emphasized in providing good-quality livestock products and meeting customers’ health requirements, etc. World Conference on Farm Animal Welfare jointly co-hosted by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation is a global conference on farm animal welfare with significant influence. With the successful implementation of the previous two conferences and the huge promotion of animal welfare development in China, the 3rd World Conference on Farm Animal Welfare will be convened with a particular focus on consumer-end companies.

Improving animal welfare is to provide healthy and good-quality products for humans. More and more consumers have recognized animal welfare-friendly products for their health benefits and good quality. With increasing market demand, animal welfare-friendly products have become important purchases for leading supermarkets and food companies. The consumer-end drive will greatly promote the development of a whole-industry chain in animal welfare. This conference will combine with Asia Agro-Food Expo, i.e. VIV Qingdao 2019, to build a comprehensive whole-industry chain service, exhibition and exchange platform in breeding, feeds, animal health, equipment, agricultural products, food processing and logistics. In particular, an animal welfare innovation exhibition will be on display and will attract more consumer-end companies to pay attention to animal welfare-friendly products and to facilitate consumption upgrade.
